For the last few days, I have been giving my Motorola Droid some much needed attention. I would love to get my hands on a Droid 2, or the Droid X, but I still have a Droid (1) for the next several months. Both have fast 1ghtz processors, 8gbs internal memory, and more. So what kind of attention did it get? Check it out!
- Upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo (currently frg01b)
- Rooted with EasyRoot
- Added wifi hotspot tethering with Wireless Tether (ad hoc)
- Overclocked to 800mhtz with OverclockWidget
Yes, Froyo offers 5 screens which LauncherPro does, but its the three Docks at the bottom and the extra functionality LauncherPro offers I like.
So, what is the big deal of “Rooting” your Droid? Oh, nothing more than giving you Super User ability. What is Super User? Admin privileges. With Admin Privileges one can alter the functionality of the Droid. It also offers the ability to change the installed ROM to a custom ROM. That will be a future project when I can get a newer Droid model, or just another Droid that no one wants.
If anyone has any recommendations for additional ideas, let me know. I am all about maximizing my Droid experience right now.
